»» Introduction
ESFAHAN,in the course of history,has had a significant role in the formation and crediting the Iranian culture and art. This glorious city as one of the most beautiful cities of Iran and the world,has been a rendez cous for many artists and people instrested in Iranian culture and art from all over the world . Before its authority during the safavaid era( 16th century), ESFAHAN has been the capital for the Boieds and saljuks( 13th century).The constant glory and greatness of ESFAHAN started since it was chosen as the government center of safavids and not only from political point of view but also from cultural point of view became the beating heart of Iran science , culture and art. In this very land, the basis of safavid art school became consolidated and came to its peak by great artists,like Reza Abbasi. Professor Arthur weilhelm pope, the well known art lover,was so attracted by this city that, after years of studies about world art and culrure ,chose it as his rest place. The civil structure of ESFAHAN , with places such as meydan-e-naghshe Jahan and the buldings strounding it, including Ali ghapoo, chehel sotoon and the beautiful zayandehrood river with memories from different eras such as marnan pol,siosepol,… which had saved its shape since 400 years ago, make this city as a live,everlasting museum in the center of Iran. This city, depending on its huge cultural past and its artstic improvements in al difrent branches of art including, architecture, painting , caliography , literature, music and specially carpet weaving , has found a very high position . »» Carpet weaving,raw materials and weaving teachaiques
Among artistic works of ESFAHAN , carpet is the one production with its unique values and identity, that has been acting as the ambassador of Iranan art introducing art to the world. The achievements of carpet weaving in ESFAHAN,with city weaving style and a history of 400 years,is in a such manner that has made its carpet as one of the most avangard Iranian orginal carpet in city weaving style.The use of two thick and thin weft in every wale of weaving ESFAHAN carpet uses the offset warp with asymetrsc knot ( Coptic knot) with two wefts in each row. The usual woven carpets in ESFAHAN use 50-60 with very high delicacy and high quality in different sizes, specially carpets. The used raw material in ESFAHAN carpet is one of the most delicate wool, coming from central parts of Iran and is colored in the suburb dye houses or in the near twons. Using silk in the carpet weaving is very popular in the weaving fo silk warp, silk flower, and full silk carpet. Due to the use of suitable looms and tools and very accurate and expert inspection , ESFAHAN carpet is one the most original and best quality carpet among Iranian carpets.
