»» Introduction
Naien is Iocated in the southern margin of the central desert of Iran with a 145 kilometer distance east of Isfahen; in a desert region but bue to the fairly high mountains in its south west, the sity enjoys a mild climate. During the Middle Ages Naien was part of Fras province . Hamdollah Mostofi and Khand mir have considered Naien as a suburb of Yazd but during the realm of Nasir-al –ddin Shah it became part of Lsfahan province . There is no exact date as to the city , but because of a monument called Tarikh Ghale "history castle" which belongs to Sasanid era and the dialect of the people which was influenced by that of Zoroastrians in the old days, the age of the sity can be estimated . Production of tiles and ceramics dates back to very ancient days and the products of the pottery centers were exported during the 17th and 18th centuries. Some examples of these products are present in Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK. Production of some cotton dabrics such as canvas, unbleached calico, pile less carpet weaving , feting and Barak weaving were among the popular jobs in Naien . However , the most popular produced material in Naien was Aba(man's loose , seleeveless cloak open in front ) whivh was well known in all Islamic countries.
Today Naien carpet is considered as the most excellent carpets of Iran due to its coloring and selicacy. An intricate weaving from a colored design – Naien Raw material , dye and weaving Very delicate raw materials and silk are part of the basic materials of Naien carpets and rugsn . The silk is used to weave flowers and leavies and is known as Gord silk . Eslimi , corners, the leaves and branches are woven by white silk thread and this not only avoids colors to mix they also create a more distance image . Warp loop is known as Farsi and the dinding are carried out during weaving . The criterion for choosing to buy Naien carpets depends on the number of the thread of the warp . All Naien carpets have 4,6,or 9 fold threads . The dimensions of Naien carpet varies very much and 6 square meter ones are usually very common . The dyes used are mainly natural such as Pomegranate skin , nut shell. Ronas ,Sparak , vine leaves and Ghermez Daneh (red seeds ) are used to produce dyes and the indigo is used to produce blue and sky-blue colors. Row counts of Naien carpets are between 50 to 70 knots in each 6.5 centimeters . Cream , dark – blue and green colors are used in the backgroung of most Naien carpets . Other colors used,are jujbe , light brown , barberry , buff color ,bule,white and red . Fathollah Habiban Naieni , Mofidi Brothers, Haj Reza Ghanbarian and jalal bandeh Ali are among the most important producers of contemporary Naien carpets . The old and new designers of the Naien carpets are : Sheikh Hassan Motevalli , Akhavan Mofidi , Jahan Mofidi , Reza Yousepoor , Mohammad Ali Rahnian Mohammadi , Hassan Tahghafi and Jahangir Talaee .
